Power Up!

April 16, 2009

Power Up is a weekend of workshops and networking that empower people to make a difference where they live, run by Friends of the Earth:

“Get the knowledge, confidence and contacts to beat the system and make a difference where you live. You’ll leave feeling inspired and energised – ready to apply new skills to your local issues.

You definitely don’t need to be an expert.

But you will have to be active in your community and want to get involved in making it a fairer, cleaner and healthier place to live.”

It’s going on at Harborne Hall, near Birmingham, Friday 24th – Sunday 26th April.

Get more information, by  downloading the Power Up leaflet, or see the Friends of the Earth site.

At the event in 2008, they covered things like:

  • Influencing planning decisions
  • The Freedom of Information Act
  • Challenging bad decisions in the courts.
